If we spoke with watch enthusiasts and collectors from all over the world and asked them to describe a sports and diving watch in two words, they would almost unanimously answer: Rolex Submariner.
The Rolex Submariner 14060M, particularly the “4-liner” version, is highly sought after by collectors due to its rarity and the addition of the COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres) certification, which it received in its final years of production (2007-2012). This version represents a transition from the earlier non-COSC certified “2-liner” models, making it particularly valuable as it was among the last Submariners before Rolex introduced ceramic bezels.
Powered by the robust Caliber 3130 movement, the 14060M features a Breguet overcoil and full balance bridge, enhancing its durability and precision. It is COSC certified, ensuring it meets stringent timekeeping standards. Collectors are drawn to this model not only for its accuracy but also because it retains many of the classic Submariner design elements—like the 40mm stainless steel case, 300-meter water resistance, and the iconic no-date dial—which many believe offer a cleaner, more symmetrical look compared to date-equipped Submariners.
The “4-liner” models also feature a rehaut engraved with “Rolex” around the inner bezel, which further differentiates it from earlier iterations. These final models, produced in limited quantities, have become particularly desirable due to their blend of vintage aesthetics and modern upgrades like the Superluminova markers and improved materials.
This unique combination of rarity, design, and historical significance ensures the 14060M’s place as a true collector’s item.
