When you think of IWC, one collection that comes to mind is the Portuguese. The Portugieser is one of IWC’s most recognizable and iconic lines, born in 1939 when two Portuguese entrepreneurs commissioned IWC to create extremely accurate wristwatches with the precision of marine chronometers. The current series, the Automatic 7-Day REF IW5007, introduced by IWC in 2015, is elegant and refined yet contemporary. The new movement of the IW5007 series has undergone a series of technical changes and improvements compared to the old movement of reference 5001, and the system is virtually wear-free thanks to the use of ceramic parts. As subjective as the watch’s design may be, when you look at the dial of the IWC Portugieser Automatic IW500704, there is something simply satisfying to the eyes. It could be thanks to the Arabic numerals and the hand-applied golden indices that gently float on a beautiful silver-white dial, or perhaps the timeless slim leaf-shaped hands that provide excellent legibility. Despite the generous 42.3 mm case and ample space on the dial, the IWC Portugieser Automatic IW5007 maintains its dressy-elegant looks. The watch for sale, in addition to all its original equipment, also has an additional original IWC replacement strap in blue woven cowhide leather.
