The Panerai Mare Nostrum Chronograph PAM00716 is a limited edition watch (1,000 pieces) that pays tribute to Panerai’s historic Mare Nostrum model, originally conceived during World War II. While the original prototype was an imposing 52mm, this modern reinterpretation features a more practical 42mm stainless steel case, making it suitable for both daily wear and special occasions. The watch is distinguished by its striking blue dial paired with tan luminescent indices and hands, along with an exclusive km/h bezel. Inside, it houses the OP XXXIII movement, which combines an ETA 2801 base with a Dubois-Depraz chronograph module, ensuring excellent performance. This model also harkens back to Panerai’s pre-Vendome era (PANERAI MARE NOSTRUM PAM 5218-301/A PRE VENDOME), the period before the brand was acquired by Richemont when designs were more closely tied to Panerai’s original roots. The PAM00716 blends Panerai’s rich maritime history with contemporary watchmaking, offering collectors a piece that is both historically significant and distinctly elegant. The watch for sale comes complete with its original set (missing only the blue alligator leather strap, as seen in the last photo of the listing), is in like-new condition (refer to the photos and description in the AD for exact conditions), and functions perfectly (having just been checked at our certified laboratories, with a 2-year warranty on the movement from the date of purchase).
