When you think of IWC, one collection that comes to mind is the Portuguese. The Portugieser is one of IWC’s most recognizable and iconic lines, born in 1939 when two Portuguese entrepreneurs commissioned IWC to create extremely accurate wristwatches with the precision of marine chronometers. The Portugieser Chronograph has been the most coveted model of the Portugieser family since 1998 and it is the iconic model of the IWC brand. Presented back in 2020, the IW371604 is the latest iteration of a Portugieser with a chronograph. After decades long life-span of the watch, IWC has finally introduced a version of the watch with a manufactured movement, before this model, all the Portugiesers Chrono have been powered by a highly modified Valjoux 7750. Amongst many particularities of the new manufactured movement IWC 69355 caliber, there is a Pellaton winding system, which utilizes a bi-directional movement of the winding rotor to more efficiently supply the main spring.The system is virtually wear-free thanks to the use of ceramic parts.
